FAQ
The questions worth asking before you trust this
Including the ones where the honest answer is “no”.
- Is it really free?
- Yes. There is no charge per file, no subscription, and no fee to download your own certificate. The company earns from the legal work on top: licensing, DMCA takedown handling and advisory. There are hourly rate limits against automated abuse, not against normal use.
- Does this prove I am the author?
- No, and anyone who tells you otherwise is overselling. It proves a file with exactly this content existed at a given moment and has not changed since. What that gives you is priority — in most disputes, whoever can show the earlier sealed date holds the stronger position.
- Will a court accept it?
- We do not promise that, because no one honestly can. What we can say is what it is made of: a SHA-256 fingerprint, an RFC 3161 timestamp from an external authority, an append-only Merkle log and an anchor in the Bitcoin blockchain — each independently checkable.
- Do I need an account?
- No. You can seal a file and verify a certificate without registering. If you give an email address the link is sent there; you do not have to confirm it.
- Is the timestamp qualified under eIDAS?
- No. The RFC 3161 seal comes from FreeTSA.org, a free time authority that is not a qualified trust service provider. We state this plainly rather than let the RFC number imply an accreditation we do not hold.
- What happens if Veritas shuts down?
- Certificates already issued stay verifiable. The Bitcoin anchor is public and permanent, and the RFC 3161 seal is validated against the issuing authority, not against us. That is precisely why the proof is anchored somewhere we do not control.
- Does my file get uploaded?
- For the standard flow, yes — that is what allows the certificate to carry a thumbnail a third party can recognise. There is also a hash-only mode where the file never leaves your machine; it proves a file with that fingerprint existed, but without the original it proves nothing about the content.
- Do you track the verification pages?
- No. Analytics are switched off on every verification page, on purpose and with several layers. Someone checking a certificate should not be measured for doing it.
- Can an AI agent use this?
- Yes. Verification is an open endpoint and there is an MCP server with scoped tools. Reads are open; writes require credentials and a human in the loop.
- What languages is it in?
- The site and the certificates are primarily in Spanish, the market this was built for and the language in which the legal documents carry weight. The English pages cover what the product is; the tools themselves are still served in Spanish.
