The Veritas UGC traceability chain documents every certification in 7 readable links: reception, file binding, SHA-256 fingerprint, timestamp, declared identity, public identifier, and legal receipt. Anyone can read it in the public view at /verify without technical background or an account.

Links 1 to 3: the file gets fixed

Reception records that a file entered the system at a given moment; it is point zero of the story. File binding ties that specific content to the certification in progress, so there is no ambiguity about what is being sealed. The SHA-256 fingerprint, computed on the server, condenses the file into a unique 64-character string: from here on, any alteration of the content, however small, will be detectable in a later comparison.

Links 4 and 5: time and identity, honestly

The timestamp fixes date and time according to the server clock, a server_clock declared as such, which is the immediate seal. On top of it come an RFC 3161 time-stamp token and a Bitcoin anchor via OpenTimestamps, which are genuine external corroboration; what there is not is a qualified stamp, because the time-stamping authority used is not on the EU trusted lists. The declared identity records who the certifier says they are: it is a declaration, not KYC verification, and the platform states this without ambiguity. In the public view, moreover, contact details are masked to protect the person certifying.

Links 6 and 7: public lookup and backing

The public identifier turns the certification into something searchable: enter it at /verify, or search directly by hash, to see the whole chain. The legal receipt closes the cycle with a signed document backing the operation, issued by Veritas Nexus Legal LLC as the service operator. Together, the 7 links tell a complete, auditable story that an expert can examine; its evidentiary weight will always be decided by whoever has to assess it, and that honesty is part of the design. Reading the 7 links once is enough to understand what you are looking at: no jargon, no black boxes, and every field has a declared purpose. Can I show the chain to a lawyer or an expert witness?

Yes, and that is its natural destination. The chain reads in plain language in the public view at /verify and comes with a downloadable signed certificate and legal receipt. An expert can independently recompute the SHA-256 fingerprint and compare it. The final evidentiary weight is determined by the evaluator, never by the platform.

Which link is most often misread when interpreting a seal?

The declared identity. Many readers assume the attached name was verified, and it was not: it is what the certifier declared at sealing time.
